Threaded inserts or sleeve sockets are handy if you're making furniture that needs to be taken apart at a later date. The threaded insert nut is screwed into a pilot hole in the wood and can then be used with a machine screw to take the item apart as many times as you like. Commonly used to join panels together, such as cabinets, bookcases, and other furniture fixtures. These can often be lost when moving as well as missing when buying secondhand furniture.
