They are ideal for use with wooden beds because they allow you to "snug up" the frame and prevent wobbling, shaking, squeaks, and damage to hook connectors from excess movement. You place these between your bed and the bed rails, placing the hook connector through the slot in the shim, then simply connect your bed back together as you normally would. Work with both steel or wooden hook-on bed rails. By definition, a shim is a thin strip of material used to align parts, make them fit, or reduce wear. Depending on the gap multiple shims can be used together to provide a snug fit which can help reduce any unwanted movement or sounds being made by your bed frame. The sounds are simply two pieces of the frame moving back and forth on each other. Along with stopping the movement and sounds, properly installed shims will help reduce wear and tear since the frame will no longer be scraping against itself. Adjust for Height of Headboard / Footboard ' The #35 Down Hook Bolt-On Conversion Bracket for Headboard and Footboard attachment allows the consumer to make an adjustment for height. Thus, different size headboards and footboards can be accommodated. There is no provision for width adjustment with this bracket. Adjustment Range: Vertical: 2". Note on the Vertical Adjustment Range ' The vertical adjustment dimensions are based on the bracket bolts being approximately 2 1/2" apart. Placing the bolts closer together would result in a greater vertical adjustment range, but could possibly decrease the strength of the connection. If a vertical height adjustment, within the specified range of 2" is needed, then the #35 would be the correct choice. Hooks Are Pointed Down ' The hooks on the #35 are pointed down. The #35 bracket should be used when the headboard and/or footboard can support the weight of the bed. The #69 Bolt-On to Down Hook-On Bed Frame Conversion Bracket provides both vertical and/or width adjustment. The #69 bracket is almost like the #65 but, the #69 has the hooks that point down instead. #69 brackets are used when you can have your headboard on the floor, and your headboard and/or footboard can have some or all of your bed weight on it. The #69 bracket is sold as a set of 2, so if you have a headboard and footboard, you will need two sets. The #69 conversion bracket comes with 2 #69 brackets, nuts, bolts, and screws. The #69 bracket is used when you need vertical and/or width adjustment for your bed rails to fit your headboard.  The hooks on the #69 are pointed down. The #69 bracket should be used when your headboard and/or footboard can take the weight of your bed.
